Professors Volunteer to Administer Editing Exam
Professors and college counselors who volunteered to act as monitors on their campuses for the 2008 Controlled Editing/Writing Exercise are listed here by state. The exam is part of the Newspaper Copy Editing and Sports Copy Editing and Online Copy Editing Intern application process. The first batch of tests were mailed in late September. Monitors can request more tests from the Fund as late as they like. Contact your campus's monitor directly to arrange to take the test. Please do not contact the Fund if your college already has a monitor.
Note: This list is updated as professors sign up as monitors.
Tests are delivered to monitors during the first week in October. Students can review previous tests and check their answers at EditTeach.org
Directions for Students Without Designated Monitors
If your college is not a test site, do not ask a designated monitor from another school to administer your test. Instead, recruit a professor or media adviser at your school to be your monitor. A professional newspaper editor can also give the exercise. (Students cannot be monitors.) By October 26, send e-mail with editing exam in the subject line to newsfund@wsj.dowjones.com, with the name, address, university, department, city, state, zip code, e-mail address and office and home phone numbers of the professor who has agreed to be your monitor. Also, include your full name, mailing address, school, telephone number and e-mail address. E-mail requests received after October 26 will not be honored.
