Student Press Law Center names LoMonte new executive director
The Student Press Law Center named Frank Daniel LoMonte as its new executive director. He succeeds Mark Goodman, who will leave the SPLC at the end of the year to become Knight Chair in Scholastic Journalism in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Kent State University.

Metcalf Institute Recruits for Science Training Fellowships

Free Spirit Scholarship and Conference Accepting Applications
The Al Neuharth Free Spirit Scholarship and Conference Program is now accepting applications. The program annually awards $1,000 college scholarships to 102 high school seniors who are interested in pursuing journalism careers and who demonstrate qualities of "free spirit." The postmark deadline is October 15.
Brasler to Receive Journalism Award at University of Missouri
Wayne M. Brasler, a 1981 High School Journalism National Teacher of the Year award winner, will receive a 2007 Missouri Honor Medal for Distinguished Service in Journalism.
